Occupy Democrats - Joe Biden makes history as the staffers at his campaign headquarters finalize a landmark union contract — making him the first incumbent president to run for reelection with a unionized workforce. And it gets even better... The new contract covers wages, time off work, severance, monthly child care reimbursement, disciplinary protections, health and safety protections, and other crucial worker issues. The unionization is affiliated with the Campaign Workers Guild. The staffers inked the final deal after successful collective bargaining negotiations, sending the country a powerful reminder of what's possible with united labor. "We are proud of the professional and collaborative process that has resulted in a strong, fair and equitable agreement between the Biden-Harris staff and the Campaign Workers Guild," the Guild and Biden's campaign said in a joint statement. "Both of our organizations believe standing up for workers’ rights and the dignity of work is paramount, and we hope this process can be a powerful example for how future campaigns and unions can work together to achieve an agreement everyone can be proud of," they added. The agreement, which took effect May 23, covers roughly 100 campaign workers — and the number is steadily growing. Notably and not surprisingly, Donald Trump's campaign staff is not protected by a union.
