Independent UK - Barrett Blade, the adult film star’s husband, told CNN on Tuesday that there’s a “good chance” that they could up sticks and get out of the country if Mr Trump is acquitted.
Roll Call - Speaker Mike Johnson joined a cavalcade of top Republicans defending
former President Donald Trump on Tuesday amid his New York criminal
trial focused on hush money payments over an alleged affair in the
lead-up to the 2016 election. Johnson’s appearance outside the Manhattan courthouse, where he
criticized the criminal case as a partisan attack on Trump, comes as the
former president has closely tied his criticisms of the prosecutions to
his run for reelection this year. The courthouse-steps media appearances from Johnson and others this
week are the latest effort from Trump’s congressional Republican allies
to defend him during the criminal case in New York.
CNN - Cohen's testimony is like something from Shakespeare or "Goodfellas." A former aide who was famously loyal to Trump turns against him. What sets Cohen apart is that he's the Trump loyalist who turned and also went to prison. There's a long list of other Trump loyalists who went to prison (or came close), stayed loyal and got pardons or clemency. We're talking about people like:
- Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser who could be back in a second Trump administration.
- Steve Bannon, Trump's former chief strategist who got a pardon but faces prison for contempt of Congress.
- Roger Stone, his longtime friend who got clemency before reporting for prison.
- And Paul Manafort, his former top campaign official in 2016 who spent a few years in jail. Manafort recently stepped back from an informal advisory role on Trump's campaign.
