Putting this under the “Youth” headline is really misleading. People have a very distorted impression of the profile of the average student loan debtor — they are much much older than the common image of “Youth” — I have had numerous people consult me about problems they are having with their wages or even their social security garnished for student loan debt from the 70s and 80s.
The Supreme Court’s grossly partisan and legally unsupported decision to forbid the BIG forgiveness that Biden proposed has totally obscured that he keeps taking big bites out of the elephant, helping seniors and working folks in every state in huge numbers. Just another example of the story of the most effective administration since LBJ being obscured by the circus surrounding the former guy.
