Take It Back - Republican governors in states from Virginia to Texas, and Tennessee are proposing or implementing devastating cuts to K-12 education funding. In Virginia, Governor Youngkin proposed a staggering $300 million decrease in funds for public K-12 education.... Meanwhile, in Texas, despite a record budget surplus, Governor Greg Abbott has failed to provide additional state funding to schools, forcing the Dallas school into a $186 million deficit just to meet new security measures mandated by the state. And in Tennessee, Governor Bill Lee is considering an even more radical approach by exploring the rejection of federal K-12 funds, a move that would strip away essential resources for low-income schools, special education, English learners, and school meals.
