NBC - A New Orleans magician says he was paid by a Democratic operative to
use artificial intelligence to impersonate President Joe Biden for a
robocall that is now at the center of a multistate law enforcement
investigation, according to text messages, call logs and Venmo
transactions he shared with NBC News. Paul Carpenter says he was
hired in January by Steve Kramer — who was working on ballot access for
Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips — to use AI software to
make an imitation of Biden’s voice urging New Hampshire Democrats not to
vote in the state’s presidential primary.
Roll Call - According to the narrative, House members are fleeing Capitol Hill because Congress is a miserable place to serve and work. But more than a handful of former members are trying to claw their way back to Washington, years after they left office. With the current political climate, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the number of House members not seeking reelection is higher than average. But considering the age of some of the members and the influential spots they’re giving up, it is striking how some youngish incumbents near the prime of their political careers have decided to head for the exits.
