EcoWatch - In an average year, the Great Lakes get about 40% ice cover. Now, after the warmest year on record and the first time the world has passed the 1.5°C target for a full year, the most recent Great Lakes ice cover analysis by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service shows that average ice cover is currently at about 5.9%.

AP-  With Arctic Sea ice shrinking from climate change, many polar bears have to shift their diets to land during parts of the summer, according to a new study in the journal Nature Communications. Researchers in Canada's Hudson Bay found that 19 of the 20 bears they studied dropped an average of 47 pounds over three weeks. Read more.

 APNearly half of the world’s migratory species are in decline, according to a new United Nations report released Monday.Many songbirds, sea turtles, whales, sharks and other migratory animals move to different environments with changing seasons and are imperiled by habitat loss, illegal hunting and fishing, pollution and climate change.
