WalletHub - With New Hampshire holding the first primary election in the U.S. on
January 23, and the state’s primary having predicted 82% of past
Republican nominees, the personal finance website WalletHub compared the
Granite State’s demographic characteristics and public opinions with
those of the U.S. to determine How New Hampshire Voters Resemble U.S. Demographics in 2024.
Our data set of 22 key measures includes sociodemographic, economic,
educational and religious metrics as well as public stances on certain
issues.
Key Findings
- The Overall Resemblance Index for New Hampshire is 83 and for each category:
- Sociodemographics: 82
- Economics: 89
- Education: 91
- Religion: 62
- Public Opinion: 91
- 82% of New Hampshire-primary winners have won the Republican party nomination and 55% have won the Democratic party nomination.
- New Hampshire least resembles
the U.S. in terms of race (41.10% similarity); religious composition
(60.28% similarity); importance of religion in one’s life (64.00%
similarity); and wealth gap (76.90% similarity).
- New Hampshire most resembles the U.S. in terms of the average workweek length (99.74% similarity); gender (99.20% similarity); unemployment rate (98.90% similarity); and party affiliation among adults (96.00% similarity).
