Nearly 7 million student loan borrowers have loans in default

NPR- Nearly 7 million student loan borrowers have loans in default, according to the U.S. Department of Education. The number of federal direct borrowers in default has more than doubled in the past decade. As student loan repayments return after the pandemic pause, the Biden administration is unveiling a new plan called Fresh Start that aims to help borrowers get back into good standing
