Sam Smith – An interesting fact about “our leaders,” aka the powerful, is that they are the leaders in things like war, economic inequity and climate change. While the local, the weak and the small may support some of these efforts, they are not the primary cause of negative change.
On the other hand, a surprising portion of the good changes in our life began with the local, the weak and the small, things like civil rights, the women’s movement and environmental protection.
Thanks to the media and our education system, we tend to underrate the importance of what is, or could be happening, in your neighborhood, city or state. Just remember: the next great movement could get some its start in your ‘hood.

True. my goal is to get the rich assholes who maker economic development policy in RI to think about communities first instead of just what the rich want.
