Nice News - Early childhood educators are essential for families in the United States, yet they earn markedly less than K-12 teachers and don’t receive many of the same benefits. The Friends Center for Children in New Haven, Connecticut, wants to change that disparity. The institution is showing its teachers that they’re valued by easing some of their financial burden with a major perk: free housing. The Friends Center Teacher Housing Initiative launched in 2021 with two homes purchased via a charitable donation. Now, it’s expanding with new builds designed by first-year graduate students at the Yale School of Architecture, and the ultimate goal is to provide housing to about 24 teachers and their families, per The New York Times.
