Inside a meeting typically held in an undisclosed room of the U.S. Supreme Court, a group of federal district and appellate court judges on Tuesday may decide some of the most impactful issues facing the judiciary. The Judicial Conference, as the 26-member administrative body is known, does not release a formal agenda to the public in advance of its meetings presided by Chief Justice John Roberts. That means the specific issues before them won’t be known in advance. Still, public reporting suggests that the panel has teed up a number of controversies, including Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas’ financial disclosures and live-streaming in federal courtrooms.
