The Messenger - More than 70,000 child-care centers are expected to close as $24 billion in pandemic-related federal stimulus funding dries up later this month, fueling concerns about the impact the widespread closures could have on an already-vulnerable economy. A June report from The Century Foundation, a progressive think tank, found the closures could leave approximately 3.2 million children without care and could result in the loss of more than 230,000 jobs in an industry that was already struggling before the beginning of the pandemic more than three years ago. The same study found the loss of tax and business revenue will mean states see a loss of $10.6 billion in economic activity a year.
