Trump update

Special Counsel Jack Smith drops bombshell, reveals that he obtained surveillance footage of Trump’s assistant Walter Nauta suspiciously carrying 50 boxes of top secret documents from through a hidden Mar-a-Lago “tunnel” to an “unknown location.”...The Special Counsel says that Nauta can then later be seen in the video walking back through the underground tunnel with WAY less than the 50 boxes. The few boxes that he returned with were then turned over to Trump’s lawyer Evan Corcoran to give back to the federal government. The Guardian reports that “federal prosecutors used the surveillance footage” to convince a judge to sign off on the raid of Mar-a-Lago — which led to Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team of federal investigators to hit pay dirt.

Walt Nauta, an aide to former President Trump, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges related to his handling of classified documents. Both Trump and Nauta have pleaded not guilty in the federal classified documents case, which means the former president could split time between the courtroom and the campaign trail as he seeks another presidential term.
