Maybe it's because pop culture has presented us lots of stories of death by cold--we know about explorers and climbers and frostbite and hypothermia. I can't think of a story about people dying because it's too hot. We may not have mental templates for how frightening that is.

Some of us are more afraid, but for many the lies by the fossil fuel industry prevent clear thought
"Don't Look Up"--movie says it all or at least quite a bit of it.
