A Florida man who earlier this month opened fire with an AR-15 at a pool cleaner he mistook for an intruder will not face criminal charges, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said Monday. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said Bradley Hocevar, 57 of Dunedin, was justified in firing 30 rounds at the pool cleaner under the state’s “stand your ground” law, The Tampa Bay Times reports. The 33-year-old pool cleaner, identified as Karl Polek, was struck by shrapnel and glass. He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, authorities said. 

The Biden administration announced the release of $42.5B in funding for nationwide broadband internet access yesterday, part of the $1T bipartisan infrastructure law passed in November 2021. The administration plans to extend high-speed broadband access to every American by 2030.

Executives want employees to work in person on Mondays to jump-start the rest of the week, but attendance is lagging, The Wall Street Journal reports.Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are far more popular in-office days for hybrid workers. On the Monday before Memorial Day, office attendance was at 45% of the pre-COVID normal, according to Kastle Systems data. On the Tuesday of that week, attendance was 58% of pre-pandemic levels.
