Wisconsin voters on Tuesday chose to upend the political direction of their state by electing a liberal candidate to the State Supreme Court, flipping majority control from conservatives, according to The Associated Press. The result means that in the next year, the court is likely to reverse the state’s abortion ban and end the use of gerrymandered legislative maps drawn by Republicans.

Republican lawmakers in the Tennessee House of Representatives filed resolutions on Monday to expel  three Democratic state representatives after they protested on the House floor last Thursday calling for new gun control laws in the wake of the deadly mass shooting at Nashville’s Covenant School. The resolutions target Reps. Gloria Johnson, Justin Jones, and Justin Pearson, all of whom were already removed from their committee assignments after the demonstrations, and had their State Capitol badges deactivated. The vote on whether to expel the three members is slated for Thursday, before which the representatives will have an opportunity to defend themselves before their colleagues.  

 2019 poll conducted by the Pew Research Center found that just about 1 in 4 Hispanics were familiar with the term “Latinx.” The same survey found that young people were more likely to use it to refer to themselves — with 7 percent among those ages 18 to 29 using it, in comparison with 3 percent overall using it
