The share of lawmakers who are immigrants or children of immigrants has steadily grown over the past three Congresses. At least 81 voting members of the 118th Congress – or 15% – were born outside the U.S. or have at least one parent who was born in another country. That total includes 18 foreign-born members and 63 members who have one or more immigrant parent.
No other country comes close to spending as much on insulin as the U.S., according to an analysis by the Rand Corporation. In 2018, the average price of insulin in the U.S. was $100 per vial, five to 10 times more than 33 other countries. Chile, the next biggest spender, paid just $21.48.
