Few students getting tutoring help

Chalk Beat -  In eight of the nation’s 12 largest districts, less than 10% of students received any kind of district tutoring this fall, according to a survey by Chalkbeat and the Associated Press. In Miami, Philadelphia, and Gwinnett County, Georgia, the figure was less than 1%. In some cases, that small size was intentional to focus on high-need students, but in other cases the startlingly low figures point to problems, like hiring challenges and a lack of awareness among families. Regardless of the reason, the impact is clear: At a crucial time for students’ recovery, millions of children have not received one of the best interventions to help them catch up. Read more.
