Since 1970, the continental U.S. has warmed by 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit — well above average for the planet, a new federal report found. Climate-fueled disasters will become more common and more costly unless drastic action is taken to slow the warming - Washington Post

For some reason one of the political parties in the United States, in cahoots with the fossil fuel industries, and the christian nationalist right have decided that that simple fact is heresy, and therefore anything in accord with an agenda of climate justice is the devils work. Of course it therefore is God's work that Southwest Florida washed away and is washing away ever faster. And capitalism will rebuild the place bigger and better than ever using more fossil fuels.
They may want to meet Jesus, but the rest of us would prefer a livable planet. They are the biggest obstacle on the planet to climate justice and future prosperity. And those of us who can will continue to work to avoid a burning planet.
