Just a thought

 Sam Smith - If the House results turn out as close as they now appear, wouldn't it make sense for the Democrats to offer moderate Republicans help in achieving someone more decent as speaker than Kevin McCarthy? In any event, the Dems are in a tight spot but they'd be better off with a more moderate speaker and would help their own reputation if they acted in a bipartisan manner.
