Where’s the news?

Sam Smith – Every day I scan about 2,000 headlines from some of the best newspapers and other sources and typically come up with less than a dozen that seem worth passing on to our readers. For example, stories that affect ordinary people, that describe our culture rather than just our politics, or is striking new factual information each typically occupy no more than one tenth of one percent of all the heads. This tells a lot not only about the quality of our news but  of what we  understand about what is going on in our society. Just thought you might like to know
