Just a thought: Changing history for the better

Sam Smith - Strangely missing from the increased discussion about the evils to be found in history are tales about how our predecessors took on these evils and changed things for the better. As a lifelong activist I assume the past is loaded with wrongs but our job is to change them for the better. Thus I find myself reading with interest tales of those ending slavery or of suffragettes. What can we learn from these experiences that might help us deal with Trump and other present day crises?

We've just had the centennial of historian Howard Zinn's birth, a true mensch. He often made the point that the barriers we face today pale into nothingness compared to what oppressed and cheated peoples faced in the past, and how they never quit fighting for dignity and fairness, and often succeeded, or if not succeeded yet, made earthshaking changes towards that goal.
