How overpopulation drives biodiversity loss

Currently a lot of the world is facing dramatic population decline. China just admitted they have overcounted their population by about 100 million. They have dropped the one child policy and now have a 3 child policy, but their birth rate is still dropping, and they are now the fastest aging population on the planet. At this point, saying reduce population usually means people of color, because the developed world has a birth rate below replacement. Since population growth is slowing, and population decline is spreading, it seems if we just keep doing the things that have worked, like educating women, and that trend will keep going.

If that isn't fast enough for some people, what do they propose? Implementing a strategy out of "Logans Run"? They can volunteer to be the first.
