Texas can't legally secede, but there's no reason the US can't sell it back to Mexico. After all, Texas was part of New Spain and Mexico much longer than it's been part of the US. There wouldn't be any problem with the southern border if it was internal rather than international. Many Texans already know Spanish, and there are a lot of people there with Latino heritage. Texas has a prosperous economy, so it could be a boost to Mexico, even considering the state's debt. That death penalty obsession might be a sticking point, though.
