Well, Well, Well… Have cities sunk to a level where it seems necessary to have gambling establishments to support their economic well-being.
I propose an alternate Future. One, after every big city has become ‘Lit-Up’ like Las Vegas, after every State has a Lottery available, and after even the smallest town, bar, restaurant and gas station has some type of ‘One-Armed-Bandit’ available, and… there are beggars on every street corner.
Then, Bally’s will become just another business extolling their importance to the economic well-being of Chicago, and asking for Tax breaks, and ‘bail-out’ loans from the government. While ‘poor’ people go hungry.
Instead, lets cajole our (very patriotic, but financially incentivized) Corporations to change their habits and invest in cities like Chicago, vs places like China.
It actually might be a pragmatic idea, in light of increasing transportation costs. And, if Bally’s can hire many workers at their wage scale, just think how a manufacturing company might profit.
