Can a corporation "own" a color?

Interesting question:

But, a “color”, unless properly defined, means nothing. Merely a name, and that name could be used to describe many variations of a same or similar color.

If a company went to a paint company, chose a specific ‘base’ paint, and added a specific combination of color additives, it could be defined as a specific “color”. And be Trademarked. But that is just ‘stupid’.

Someone else could develop the same “color”, but using different brands of ‘base’ paint and color additives would not technically be ‘the same’.

Two brothers, or sisters, may look the same; but having differing genetic makeup, they are different.

Maybe a “color” combined with a specific Logo that would symbolize a specific company would be a logical alternative.

Of course, there will always be lawyers who will fight for corporations, about anything. They gotta eat don’t they?

Is the problem with judges? Or juries?
