Just wondering

Sam Smith - A question not asked at the recent Supreme Court nomination hearing was this: If you could have lunch, live next door, share an office job or have sex with either Ted Cruz or Judge Jackson, which  would you choose?

This is the first time I've asked this publicly but it's something that has fascinated me from the early days of the civil. rights movement, namely why are those agitating for racist or sexist actions people you would want to have much less to do with than those they are attacking?

One answer is that racism and sexism are closely related to narcissism, that Google describes this way

  1. Sense of Entitlement. A common sign of people with narcissism is the belief that they are superior to others and deserve special treatment. ...
  2. Manipulative Behavior. Another common trait of narcissism is manipulative or controlling behavior. ...
  3. Need for Admiration. ...
  4. Lack of Empathy.
It might help our efforts towards decency to treat the likes of Cruz and Trump not as strong leaders but as ones with mental problems that leads them to see themselves that way. And ones we really don't want to have lunch or live next door with. They are, in fact, far lesser creatures than the ones they like to attack.

Treating them as people who need treatment for mental health issues makes sense to me. After all Trump is effing nuts. And Cruz should maker all harvard graduates ashamed that the school turns out such whack jobs.
