Why January 6 was an attempted coup

Have you noticed that symbolism is replacing reality?

"Certifying the result" did and does not require ceremony. It's a clerical act, so it can be done anywhere, any time. All that is needed is the signatures of the responsible individuals. Or even just their verbal okay if witnessed.

To claim that what happened on 6 Jan was an "attempted coup" is like saying that breaking open a USPS letter box on a street corner is an attempted coup.

An attempted coup requires a determined attempt to take control of government power functions, not scuffling with some cops and breaking windows, but then wandering around aimlessly because they had no idea what to do next.

Government functionaries are certainly keen on the idea of making every protest a traitorous act. I don't think we should go along.
