Sam Smith - Hundreds of good bills have been passed that didn't include provisions that progressives wanted. It's something called politics. Killing all the good stuff in the current bill because it doesn't include paid leave won't make you look progressive; it will make you look like selfish prig.

I will be absolutely enraged if my local public assets get privatized because of the corrupt and terrible "Privatize infrastructure Bill". There is absolutely no good in that, ultimately it means people will have to pay tolls to be killed on collapsing bridges. Privatization is never a good solution.
The now gutted "Build Back Better Bill" is being actively dismantled and Biden has transformed it into the "Build Back Worse Bill" removing what the US people need, and replacing it with what crumbs the 1% will allow us to try to get after a regime of brutal means testing. This revamped bill is all about creating more divisive hurtful corruption that does not help this country improve, and leaves all of us, except the wealthiest, much worse off.
In the face of those realities, if the progressives end this "Theater of Failure" that 2 rightwing Democratic Senators are performing to destroy Biden's decent starting agenda, I completely support this. The Bill no longer includes Medicare expansion, family leave, child tax credits, any environmental protection, free community college, negotiation for better drug prices, and most other benefits needed for working people, the disabled, the elderly, and the young. What is actually left that bill will help regular people? very little. Progressives will not be "selfish prigs" if they stop this travesty. Progressives will be Heros that stopped privatizing our public works, and ended another round of give aways to the richest.
