Sam Smith - As part of Undernews' daily process, we scan over 2000 headlines from more than 100 journalistic sources. On the average day, we come up with less than 10 headlines that either describe developments of the non-elite culture of America or good things that are being done in various parts of the country. For example, what are places doing to improve ethnic relations and not just reporting more things wrong with their current state? Where are cops becoming better at working within a community? Where are schools doing a good job of teaching civics?
I strongly suspect that one major reason America is not doing well these days is because the media is largely interested in crises and problems, while efforts to cure them are considered not newsworthy.

Preach Brother Sam. You are so correct. And it is related to America become a fact free zone.
When CNN started the 24/7 news channel in 1980, they had to have something to fill those hours. Therefore, things that would have been ignored suddenly were being transmitted nationally. We are being inundated with trivia disguised as news.
