Sam Smith, 2015 - I believe this is the first time in over 50 years that I have recommended a way of cooking something. My underlying belief is that the foodie movement is a plot by the elite to substitute food choices for political ones. If we're busy selecting the right kale we won't notice that our democracy is in shambles.
That being as it may, I can't find where I could have learned this, but I regularly put butter and maple syrup on my crab cakes and they are delicious. I believe this may be a southern recipe but can't find any proof.
