January 6: Just a reminder

Sam Smith - The January 6 attempted coup against the Congress, in which the attackers were encouraged, if not directly assisted, by high government officials has no precedent since the Civil War. Among those backing the attempted coup was a president who had lost his reelection bid and told his supporters, "“If you don't fight ... you're not going to have a country anymore."

As University of Northern Colorado Professor of History Fritz Fischer, Ph.D. described it:

“The riot itself wasn’t the most shocking thing; the most shocking thing was that it was our own president who directed an attack on our Congress, and that has no precedent in U.S. history and surprisingly few in world history,” he said. “To have one part of our government attack another part of the government is totally insane, and it was dangerous and antithetical to any traditional understanding of how our government should work.”

Much of the media and more than a few politicians are treating this as just another protest in the capital. It wasn't. It was an attempted coup.

Those who believe and maintain this was a "tourist" event and tout the unbelievable should view the NY Times video of this insurrection in all it's horror. That video should play on a continuous loop for all to see!
