OK, OK, OK… before you get your underwear in a bundle, lets think about this.
Britain’s Royal Family is a remnant of a Feudal, Darwinian ‘trial-by-fire’, GERMAN lineage for Pete’s sake. Isn't Natural Selection a "good" thing?
In the ‘modern’ more industrial world, we ( they ) had first thought that Diplomacy could be used to keep Countries ( mainly European ) from War by putting a genetically inbred group of people to be “In Charge”, despite any individual shortcomings.
Yup, I know what you’re gonna say. Tzar Nicholas II, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and King George V didn’t seem to hold things together very well, despite being first cousins. And that seemed to be about the end of consanguinity as the major influence in diplomacy. But, at least they tried… with just about the best means known at the time, Sex.
And so, there was an attempt to form a League of Nations! What a Great idea! All the most noble, intelligent, and influential people from ( again, mainly European ) gathered together to discuss the various difficulties like the Economy, Agriculture, Health, etc. All in an open and transparent manner. What a noble idea. And this, apparently morphed into the United Nations!
One might argue about the impact of the UN, and its activities. It has been disliked by many, possibly because it doesn’t’ cater to the will / whims of certain politicians, possibly at the behest of large Corporations, which in recent years have become more powerful, richer, and more influential than many modern governments. ( not just in Europe ).
Now what we seem to have, all around the world, is rich powerful Corporations, with absolutely No transparency. That, and mediocre political sock-puppets that lack proper skills to perform adequately in this modern world. Some seem to lash-out in authoritarian like manner, possibly because they feel ‘backed into a corner’, or merely out of ignorance and hate for people dissimilar to themselves. All might explain recent shinanigans and even belief in conspiracies.
Well, just what are we to do?
If you hadn’t guessed already. As modern civil society slips closer, and closer, toward a modern form of Feudalism, I might suggest that we ‘rally’ around some central figure. First thoughts might include: A Corporate leader, but their primary concern would be Greed, and not be Transparent. A Religious leader might be slightly myopic and self-righteous. A Lawyer would / could be ‘the party-of-the-first-part’, Pedantic, and not completely understood – but otherwise possibly a wise choice, if an impoverished atheist.
No, we can’t rely upon Wisdom at a time like this. It will not stand up against corporate power’s greed, and religion’s centuries of intolerance, and conspiracies.
We need to re-visit the good ol’ virtues of Royalty. Yup, Sex. Reviled by no-one and everyone. Something that doesn’t produce any ‘product’ to buy, or ‘doctrine’ to follow blindly, or legislate any particular law that might be created with language too elaborate to understand, yet vague enough to allow loopholes.
But this time maybe aim toward ‘diversity’, not inbreeding.
