Putting restaurants to work feedling hungy people cont'd

 The piece on this topic brought this response from a reader:

In our nearby church (Christ Episcopal) in Hudson NY two temporarily unemployed local professional chefs are using the church’s industrial kitchen to produce 700 meals a week that are delivered by volunteers to needy families throughout the area. The project is supported by grants and donations from churches and their members. This model would work in many places, for churches to sponsor (and receive tax-deductible donations for) such projects to employ talented chefs who miss feeding people. The recipients are selected by social service agencies that already distribute food stamps, heating assistance in winter, etc.
