The Republicans in the Senate will not vote to impeach former President Trump. But if we are to have true national healing the conviction is much less important than that the American public get to hear public testimony by those involved and by those responding to it and investigating it. Without a full and open hearting, including hearing for Trump under oath if he is willing to testify, we will never arrive at a national consensus or understand how this action constitutes a long term threat to American democracy.
