Word: To make life happy

We rarely run lists like this, but thought there was a lot of wisdom in this one, published in Quora by freelance writer Salome Martiashvili

  • Stop chasing happiness. Paradoxically, the more you chase it, the further away it gets.
  • Treasure your life experiences more than the materialistic possessions.
  • Focus on what you already have rather than what you don’t.
  • Stop comparing yourself and your life to other people and their lives.
  • Stop ruminating and fixating on the past you can no longer change.
  • Replace expectations with hope.
  • Self-validation is what truly counts. You can’t ever achieve real happiness if the only thing that makes you happy is getting validation from other people. It all starts with you.
  • Develop a list of goals you’d like to accomplish.
  • Once you accomplish a certain goal, replace it with a new one. Keep doing this consistently.
  • Don’t complicate your life by worrying over the trivial matters you have no control over.
  • Live in the present moment instead of allowing your mind to drift off someplace else by worrying about the future that’s not even there yet.
  • Help other people whenever you can.
  • Achieve a peace of mind. When your mind is at peace, it becomes easier for you to sustain happiness and overall contentment.
  • Finally, stop taking yourself too seriously. You don’t have to be overly critical of yourself. Remember, everyone makes mistakes. It is in the workings of our flawed human nature.
