ELECTION UPDATE NOV 2: Biden just 5 votes down on electoral count

Need 270 electoral votes to win. Blue = Dem lead Red = GOP lead Light colors = leaning Brown = statistical tie.  State rankings based on Sunday/Monday poll averages. We will update this information late afternoon or early evening.

According to the latest five poll averages, Biden has a 8% lead over Trump nationally - down 5 points from his high this year.  Our latest poll averages has Biden with 265 sure electoral votes and another 14 votes  leaning his way. He needs 5 more sure electoral votes to win. 

In electoral votes, Trump has 117 highly likely and  44 leaning his way, still leaving him 109 votes short of winning. 

The popular vote has Biden ahead of Clinton in their races against Trump, but not by a lot. In mid-October 2016 Clinton had an average of just 5 points below Biden at the same time. At the end of October she was only 3.5 points under Biden. She beat Trump by 2% but lost the electoral vote.
