Are Cheetos popular in Africa? No, they aren't widely sold there.
I find it interesting that they aren't looking at diet. Africa is not that much of a consumer of highly processed/low nutrition foods that are in abundance in modern advanced economies. Disease/death rates appear to be lower in cultures that eat fermented foods like marinated fish or lacto-fermented veggies, which are common in most traditional food ways, but are often forgotten or undervalued in modern advanced economies. If diets are not part of the study of why Africa is doing better, they probably won't ever find that "perfect storm" of why this happened. I doubt they will ever find a"smoking gun" for something that likely has multifaceted reasons.
