VIRUS STATS UPDATE TUESDAY

For the first time since we started tracking the virus stats, a significant number of averages for the past week are better than for the previous seven days. The number of new cases is down globally and in the US, in all major virus countries save Iran, and in all the major virus states except for New Jersey.


Globally, the average number of new cases the past seven days is 8% below the previous week. For America it is down 10%.
  • The average number of new United Kingdom cases are down 43% compared to the previous week
  • Average number of new cases in Spain this week are are down17% compared to the previous week
  • Average number of new  cases in Italy this week are down 27% compared to the previous week
  • Average number of new cases in Iran this week are up 6% compared to the previous week.
  • Average number of new  cases in Germany this week are down 40%  compared to the previous week
 Death rate of reported cases
  • The latest death rate of reported cases in all major virus countries except for Iran has increased this week over past week's average. (This may be due, in some cases, to improved reporting):
USA at 5.2% or 38% over the previous week's average
Global 6.8%  or 12% over the previous week's average
United Kingdom is worst 13.6%
Italy is second  at 13.2%
France is third at 12.6%
Germany is 3.1%

 States
  • The highest number of cases are in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, California, Michigan  and Illinois
  • Michigan, Washington,  New York, Illinois, California, Florida, Pennsylvania  and Louisiana all have seen a decline in new cases this week, ranging from 64% in Michigan to 6% in Pennsylvania
  • In all the major virus states, the death rate of reported cases has increased the past seven days by 7-70% compared to the previous week. The lowest - Georgia and Washington - were early targets of the virus.
  • The highest death rates of reported cases are in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and New Jersey
