Virus P.S.

Sam Smith - Thanks for your inquiries but your editor and his wife are doing fine despite being 82 and 80. Fortunately I married a woman from Wisconsin where you're taught to do everything right, so our mail and newspapers sit on the table before a whole day before being viewed and we have to order our food from the local grocery online and then pick it up. To give you an idea of how popular this is, I just ordered some more food today but can't pick it up until 2:30m on April 6. Fortunately a younger friend actually going to the store just brought us some chocolate ice cream and white bread.

We're not the only ones staying home. Driving the five miles to the store to pick up some food on Saturday, we passed six cars going and seven coming back.

Suggest you keep a diary of this stage in our lives. There hasn't been anything quite like it in a 100 years.  Suggested this to our granddaughters who told us they were already under teacher orders to do just that.

Fortunately, we have Netflix and Amazon Prime for which our current favorites are Cheer and The English Game both on Netflix.. Other good ones on Amazon: Midsomer Murders, Frasier, Brooklyn Nine Nine, As Time Goes By, Death in Paradise, and A Place to Call Home. On Netflix, the best include Atypical, Rake, The Kominsky Method, Arrested Development, WIA, Trailer Park Boys, Parks & Recreation and, of course, The Office.

On Twitter, author and creator of show David Simon (@AODespair) wryly noted the surge in viewing of "The Wire" now that the ratings don't matter. But he also pointed out how it was a show about institutional inability and failure to focus on the real problems. Anyone who hasn't watched it has a treat in store, especially in these times of such amoral leadership in DC -- Marlo had more human feeling than Trump does.

Chocolate ice-cream. Dang, Sam, one of the few items we left off yesterday's list. 'Preciate the reminder.

And your suggestion we keep diaries or journals, that I really like. I'm passing it on to our daughter whose two kids (10 and 5) are proving quite the challenge to keep them busy, entertained, tranquil, etc.

Sam: I also suggest True Detective seasons 1 and 3. (season 1 is best). Stay well. Ray Pempek
