When I was in college I knew several women from evangelical families who did sex work, so they could afford college. Their families only wanted them to go to "bible college" to find husbands. They wanted a real education. One stripped her way to a law degree.
25 years later, I find out my daughter knows several women from evangelical families who do sex work to afford college. Many of these young women feel very liberated from their upbringing while dancing in 6" heels. Makes you wonder about a church that has such and effect on young women.
It's not just the women in college, when I went some of the biggest drinkers and partiers came from "Christian" Right families. And that made it even worse for them because they felt "they were letting their families down".
What I truly find hypocritical and more damaging to society, are the ones who survived and are now worse than their parents were and more strict on their kids, making their kids more messed up than them.

Back in 1969 I got money for college by going into the military. Not something that I really felt good about, but I did it.
Sometimes, we do what we have to do.
