There are over 1 million retail establishments across the United States, and retail sales have grown almost 4 percent annually since 2010.
There are 153,237 convenience stores operating in the United States, according to the 2019 NACS/Nielsen Convenience Industry Store Count. The count is based on stores as of December 31, 2018.
9,100 stores - presumably retail stores - represents 0.91% of all retail stores.
