banning the nighttime use of electric scooters and electric bikes,
between the hours of 9 p.m. and 4 a.m.," reports Stephen Deere. Four people have died while riding scooters already in Atlanta, the
most recent earlier this week. Three of those deaths occurred after 9
pm.
Femnist Newswire -This ongoing debate on immigration reform in the United States reached a new tipping point yesterday after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents invaded a food production plant in Morton, Mississippi, arresting 680 undocumented workers who were unable to provide identification. This is believed to be the largest single-state immigration arrest in the history of the country. ... Video shows family members crying as 600 agents got off buses in mass to interrogate and arrest the plant workers. Many children returned from their first days of school to discover that they could not get into their homes as their parents had been detained. Some children without available legal guardians have been sent to family members, with many others being kept in a local gym, supported by donations from community members.

Intercept -Two for-profit prison companies have lost major contracts in Denver over their work in immigrant detention, as backlash to President Donald Trump’s immigration policy continues to mount. The stunning $10.6 million rebuke to the two firms, CoreCivic and the GEO Group, was led by newly elected city council member Candi CdeBaca, who won in June on a radical platform backed by the Democratic Socialists of America. CdeBaca’s stand on Monday against the firms was her first major effort since being sworn in, and she expected to be a lone vote of dissent.
The budget deal’s boost in non-defense discretionary funding will
only maintain NDD at about its 2019 level for the next two years, after
adjusting for inflation, and won’t return NDD to its level of 2010.
