Mass shooting update

Washington Post -   In the hours before the mass shooting, Connor and Megan Betts, brother and sister, drove together in the family’s 2007 Corolla to visit this city’s historic Oregon District, an area alive on a summer night with restaurants, bars and nightlife. Then, police said, they separated.

It is not clear what the woman, 22, did at that point. But her brother, 24, donned a mask, body armor and ear protection. Wielding an “AR-15-like” weapon with magazines containing 100 rounds, he set out on a street rampage that, while it lasted only about 30 seconds, claimed the lives of nine people and injured 27 others. Among the first to die was Megan Betts. A male companion was injured.


The mayor of Dayton, Ohio, Nan Whaley, has revealed that police got to the scene of the mass shooting in Dayton and killed the gunman in less than one minute. Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley said officers who responded to the shooting within seconds saved “literally hundreds of lives” by denying the gunman entrance into the crowded bar. Eyewitnesses said someone grabbed the rifle out of the gunman’s hands, but authorities have not confirmed those accounts. .... The Dayton gunman was identified as Connor Betts, 24, of Ohio. Betts wore body armor and fired a rifle outfitted with a high-capacity magazine, authorities said.Betts killed his 22-year-old sister, Megan, and eight other people who were publicly identified by officials on Sunday afternoon.

[Patrick] Crusius was "taken into custody without incident" and without any law enforcement officers firing their weapons, according to El Paso Police Department Sgt. Robert Gomez. He later told investigators he wanted to shoot as many Mexicans as possible, two law enforcement officials told ABC News.

The [shooter's] screed posted to the anonymous extremist message board railed against immigrants in Texas and pushed talking points about preserving European identity in America. The attack left at least 20 dead and 26 injured. The document criticized both Democrats and Republicans and expressed anti-government and anti-corporate views. The author claimed to have developed those beliefs before Trump’s presidency.

From the shooter's post - Due to the death of the baby boomers, the increasingly anti-immigrant rhetoric of the right and the ever increasing Hispanic population, America will soon become a one party-state. The Democrat party will own America and they know it. They have already begun the transition by pandering heavily to the Hispanic voting bloc in the 1st Democratic Debate. They intend to use open borders, free healthcare for illegals, citizenship and more to enact a political coup by importing and then legalizing millions of new voters....

The Republican Party is also terrible. Many factions within the Republican Party are pro-corporation. Pro- corporation = pro-immigration. But some factions within the Republican Party don’t prioritize corporations over our future. So the Democrats are nearly unanimous with their support of immigration while the Republicans are divided over it. At least with Republicans, the process of mass immigration and citizenship can be greatly reduced.
