Newspaper readership plummets

Guardian -Weekday circulation for US daily newspapers, print and digital combined, fell to 35 million in 2016, according to the Pew Research Center – the lowest circulation since 1945, despite the population nearly tripling during those 70-plus years. This year began with a thousand job losses at once-burgeoning digital journalism ventures BuzzFeed and Huffington Post.

Perhaps it has something to do with more people catching on to the false stories and lies in the mainstream media, which would have us believe it is only the alternate media that tells lies..

Just sayin'....

The internet exposed the mainstream media as being nothing more than a disinformation platform.

I only read the MSM headlines to see how they are trying to spin things. The idea that I would pay to have myself propagandized is laughable.

Australia with only one tenth the population of the USA has Newspaper circulation of 16 million. We trust our papers unlike our American cousins.
Then again we don't have Fox News distorting things and calling out fake news all the time.

I get very little news online or on TV. Every time I read one of these tales about newspaper readership plummeting, I subscribe to another newspaper. Right now I read 5 local, 5 national, and 1 international. I subscribed to the NY Times for my small town library.

Thomas Jefferson said if he had to choose between "“a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government," he should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter”--Thomas Jefferson.
