The semantics of Trumps' Russian ties

For the present, we consider it fair to describe Trump as a Russian asset but not as a Russian agent. An agent is one willingly serving at the direction of the Russians, while an asset is one who's own desires and ambitions leads them to be substantially manipulated by the Russians. In other words, an agent works for the Russians, while an asset does what the Russians want for his own purposes.

I don't think that's right. If Trump acted knowingly then he's an agent, not an asset. Whether he's being blackmailed or bribed into doing so doesn't matter.
