Sam Smith - Watching Richard Engel report a crisis in Syria this morning, a totally disrespectful thought came to mind: does Engel actually create these crises based on where he is? How else could he get to so many crisis ridden places so fast?
In truth, Engel is simply an extraordinarily good reporter, fast to the scene, quick with the facts, and good with the sense of what's happening that he passes on.
We tend to give too much credit to the big news hosts, famous Washington correspondents and popular pundits. But if you want to know what good journalism is really about, check out tomorrow's crisis with MSNBC's Richard Engel, somewhere in the world.
