San Francisco gets its first cashierless store

People can be sneaky and clever. I suspect if everyone doesn't need to walk individually over a scanner at the door, that shoplifting from the place will be easy pickings. If a large group of people came in with a plan, they could make off with lots of stock and the store wouldn't know which one did it. I hope this becomes shoplifter central, and the losses are terrible for the store. I'm all for the demise of this sort of retail. I don't even use the self serve check out at my local grocery stores because, it is a scam to get rid of living breathing employees. I support people in my city over corporate greed.

Agreed. Whenever an employee suggests that I use the not-really-automated checkout, I always smile and say "I'm union". They get it.

That's a great response. My spouse and I aren't in unions, but my brother just retired from the teamsters and that is close enough.
