As much as Trump criticizes the media, it might be 'the media' that diminishes the effectiveness of Democrats.
I suggest this because Republicans are able to get their message out with short quips that summarize their message of intolerance, greed, religiosity, or hate. And this satisfies the News media just fine, with PBS being the exception.
More thoughtful, progressive / egalitarian philosophies about society and governance require more time to explain, better orators, and a different type of News media.
As it is, Democrats / et al seem doomed to merely react to the constant drum-beat of BS being spewed out. 'Mericans just love those quick jabs that rile emotions and appeal to more base instincts - rather than taking time (which people just don't have) to read or listen/watch PBS.
Democrats need money to get elected, maybe the system really needs to be changed, but right now Democrats seem to be the only 'opposition' that exists.
For what that's worth.
