Those without health insurance drops

USA Today - Research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, says the number of Americans who reported being uninsured dropped 7.9 percentage points by the first quarter of this year. Minorities saw the biggest reductions — with uninsured rates among Latinos, for example, dropping by 11.9 percentage points.

What good is having health insurance if you can't afford to use it? Just simply raising the amount of people who have health insurance doesn't make that much of a difference, if their policies have high co-pays or a huge deductible that is a barrier to using it. Not to mention the ACA only covers allopathic medicine. I used to get chiropractic with my health insurance. Since I was in a serious car accident years ago, I need regular chiropractic care to avoid chronic headaches and neck pain, but that was cancelled when the ACA took effect. The ACA seems to have aided my insurer in justifying a reduction of useful benefits for yet another increase in price.

At 50 I'm being pressured to get a colonoscopy, which is paid for because of the ACA. Unfortunately colonoscopy is a risky procedure which the procedure itself has about the same rate of serious complications as there is of actually developing colon cancer. Colonoscopy prep utterly destroys the gut bacteria, leading to continuing health problems and making an ever better environment for any digestive illness out there, but somehow this is supposed to improve my health. Yet I cannot get the simple monthly chiropractic care that would improve my life tremendously by ameliorating my chronic headaches and neck pain, because it isn't required by the ACA.

I'm having a real hard time feeling thankful for this blatant give away to insurance companies, it certainly hasn't benefitted me at all.

Couldn't agree more with anonymous. I have Obamacare and it's about as worthless as anything can get. I keep paying premiums but with a $6000 deductible haven't seen a penny of benefits. One of the great scams of all time. The Democrats sell out to the insurance companies and this massive rip off betrayal of their constituents will not be forgotten at election time. I've supported them for 40 years but never again. Never.
